App review

A free review of your live app. What to fix first, and what next.

I use your app, web app or website the way your customers do, then send you a deck, concept screens and a short video walkthrough. It's the easiest way to see how I work before deciding anything.

What you receive

Three things, by email.

Written to be read without me in the room, and easy to pass on to whoever decides what gets built.

  • A review deck

What's working, the few things to fix first and why each one matters, smaller improvements, and a suggested order of work. Every issue comes with a suggested fix.

  • Concept screens

A handful of redesigned screens in your existing brand, showing the same content reorganised around what people are trying to do. A starting point for discussion, not final designs.

  • A short video walkthrough

Me talking through the deck and the concepts, so the reasoning comes across without a meeting. Easy to forward to whoever makes the decisions.

How I review it

The way your customers use it.

  • On a real device, as a customer

I use the live product on my own phone or laptop, through the same screens your customers see, and work through at least one real task from start to finish.

  • Read-only

I don't submit, create or delete anything that would land in your data. Where a flow needs an account, I stop at the point it would change something, or use a test account if you give me one.

  • Scope written down

The deck opens with exactly what I covered, which version I used, and what I didn't look at this time, so nothing reads as a verdict on parts I never saw.

Inside the deck

Eight sections, in this order.

Short enough to read in one sitting. The fix-first issues get a page each, so they can be handed straight to whoever fixes them.

  1. Scope

    How I reviewed it

The device and version, what I covered, that it was read-only, and what wasn't covered.

  2. Summary

    The short version

Three points to read if you read nothing else.

  3. Strengths

    What's good

What already works and should survive any changes.

  4. Priorities

    Fix first

The handful of issues that matter most, one per page, each with what happens now, why it matters and a suggested fix.

  5. Next

    Could be better

Worth improving next: what happens now beside a suggestion.

  6. Details

    Polish

Smaller things that add up: cut-off text, naming, spacing and consistency.

  7. Concepts

    What it could look like

The concept screens, each one annotated with what changed and why.

  8. Plan

    A suggested order of work

Quick fixes first, then clarity, then the larger structural changes.

How it works

From a link to a deck in five working days.

  1. 1

    Send me a link

The App Store or Google Play listing, or the web address, plus anything you'd like me to look at closely.

  2. 2

    I review the live product

On a real device, read-only, as one of your customers would use it.

  3. 3

You get the deck and the video

Within five working days, by email. The deck and concepts are yours to keep.

  4. 4

Talk it through, if you like

A short call to go through the findings. If you want help with the fixes, I'll quote that in writing first.

Good to know

Questions people ask.

Is it really free?
Yes. There's nothing to pay and nothing to sign. If you'd like me to do some of the work afterwards, that's a separate conversation and a written quote.
I received a review from you without asking. What is it?
It's this review. I sometimes review a product I think I could help with and send it unasked. There's no catch: reply if it's useful, or ignore it.
Do you need access to anything?
No. I review what's publicly available. If the useful part sits behind a sign-in, a test account helps me go further, but it's optional.
What isn't covered?
The review looks at the interface and the experience of using it. It isn't a code review, a security test or a formal accessibility audit, and the deck says what was out of scope.
